CLARK IS TRAPPED IN THE PHANTOM ZONE WHILE ZOD TAKES OVER LEX'S BODY AND PLOTS TO DESTROY EARTH; JIMMY OLSEN JOINS THE DAILY PLANET - Thrown into the Phantom Zone, a Kryptonian jail created by Jor-El, Clark (Tom Welling) finds himself without powers and surrounded by revenge-seeking criminals sent away by his father.  Meanwhile, having taken over Lex's (Michael Rosenbaum) body, Zod keeps Lana (Kristin Kreuk) captive with a demand to sire him an heir and begins his plans to turn Earth into a Krypton-like planet using the alien ship's hard drive.  After Lois (Erica Durance) and Martha's (Annette O'Toole) plane crashes near the Fortress of Solitude, Jor-El tells Martha how to kill Zod.  Back at the Daily Planet, Chloe (Allison Mack) reunites with an old flame, Jimmy Olsen (Aaron Ashmore).  John Glover also stars.  Steven S. "7TH HEAVEN" RETURNS FOR AN 11TH SEASON / JEWEL MAKES A CAMEO IN THE SEASON PREMIERE - Having lost her pregnancy over the summer, an emotionally unstable Lucy (Beverley Mitchell) convinces Eric (Stephen Collins) to let her deliver the Sunday sermon, but she ends up publicly blaming Kevin (George Stults) and everyone in her family for what happened.  Meanwhile, Martin (Tyler Hoechlin) expresses his romantic intentions to Sandy (Haylie Duff), who may still have feelings for Simon (David Gallagher, who doesn't appear in the episode), and tells her that he wants to spend more time with her and their infant son.  Sandy reveals that she has recently switched majors and wants to become a minister, a prospect that upsets Lucy who feels like Sandy is intruding on her turf.  Jewel makes a cameo as the Camden's neighbor whose voice lulls Savannah (Alyssa Yadrick) to sleep every night.  Catherine Hicks and Nikolas and Lorenzo Brino also star.  The episode was written by Caroline Kepnes and directed by Joel Feigenbaum (#222).

PART ONE OF A SHOCKING SEASON FINALE - Sam (Jared Padalecki) is abducted by the Yellow-Eyed Demon and finds himself in a ghost town with other children who have special abilities.  They learn the Demon has brought them together to initiate his endgame: an all-out war against the human race.  In an effort to encourage Sam to fight, the Demon shows Sam what really happened to one of his parents.  Dean (Jensen Ackles) enlists Bobby's (guest star Jim Beaver) help to find Sam before the battle begins, but he arrives too late.  Sera Gamble wrote the episode directed by Robert Singer (#221).
