ERYKAH BADU PERFORMS AN ORIGINAL SONG — At a gathering to celebrate William (Reggie Hayes) and Monica's (Keesha Sharp) pregnancy, Maya (Golden Brooks) makes a joke that the baby is hers. Worried that Maya is having trouble dealing with the loss of their baby, Darnell (Khalil Kain) confronts Maya and learns that she has been taking pills to help her cope. Meanwhile, Lynn (Persia White) and Joan (Tracee Ellis Ross) attend an Erykah Badu concert, and Lynn's manager announces that a record label wants to offer her a deal. Darnell tells William about how a woman's body changes after pregnancy, leaving William to fear that his sex life will never be the same. LIL KIM GUEST STARS AS HERSELF— When Malik (Hosea Chanchez) makes a politically incorrect statement during a press interview, it creates a media firestorm and makes him the whipping boy for a national cartoonist. Later, Malik attempts to make amends with the cartoonist but things get out of hand when Malik ends up punching him. Malik tries to find his mom Tasha (Wendy Raquel Robinson) to help the situation but she is off trying to sign a big client. Meanwhile, overwhelmed with guilt for lying to Kelly (Brittany Daniel) for his steroid use, Jason (Coby Bell) confesses to Derwin (Pooch Hall). Tia Mowry also stars. Salim Akil directed the episode written by Hale Rothstein (#40596-029).

KEVIN FEDERLINE RETURNS — As Brooke (Sophia Bush) makes plans for Clothes Over Bro's, Peyton (Hilarie Burton) has her hands full when the musician (guest star Kevin Federline) she just signed turns out to be problematic. Haley's (Bethany Joy Galeotti) interest in music leads her back to the recording studio. Nathan's (James Lafferty) efforts to corral defiant player Quentin (guest star Robbie Jones) are unsuccessful. Meanwhile, Mouth's (Lee Norris) relationship with his boss grows heated. Chad Michael Murray and Antwon Tanner also star. Janice Cooke directed the episode written by Adele Lim (#3T6804).

BROKEN HEARTS AND CIGARETTES / FRED SAVAGE ("THE WONDER YEARS") DIRECTS — Stressed out over midterms, Raja (Adhir Kalyan) horrifies the Tolchuck family when he casually begins smoking. When he explains that it is common practice in Pakistan for people of all ages to smoke, Gary (Scott Patterson) and Franny (Amy Pietz) tell him they both struggled to quit and smoking is forbidden in their home. However, without letting each other know, both Gary and Franny begin sneaking cigarettes with Raja in the garage. Meanwhile, Justin (Dan Byrd) witnesses Claire's (Lindsey Shaw) heartbreak when her boyfriend Jeffrey (guest star Nathan Mitchell) breaks up with her. When Justin's attempt to cheer Claire up is misunderstood by her friends, she is embarrassed and mocks Justin in front of their classmates. Angry and hurt, Justin decides to disown his sister, and Claire is surprised by how much she wants to win back his trust. Fred Savage directed the episode written by Rob Ulin (#108).

LOVE IS IN THE SOUTH AFRICAN AIR — Katie (Leah Pipes) and Tumelo (Atanwa Kani) break-up up with their respective love interests, but find they are uncomfortable in their friendship now that they are both single. After dating new people, Katie and Tumelo realize that their relationship is special. Jesse (Andrew St. John) helps Mbali (Precious Kofi) find the courage to end her engagement but is surprised to learn she has other plans outside South Africa. Jo (Stephanie Niznik) and Art (David Butler) swap chores around the Blue Antelope in a challenge to establish whose duties are most difficult. D.W. Moffet, Calvin Goldspink, K'Sun Ray and Mary Mouser also star. Jim Sadwith directed the episode written by Michael Rauch (#111).
