DEALING WITH A LOSS—When Maya (Golden Brooks) accuses Darnell (Khalil Kain) of blaming her for the miscarriage, Joan (Tracee Ellis Ross) and Lynn (Persia White) are worried that Maya is in denial and not allowing herself to grieve. Meanwhile, Monica (Keesha Sharp) and William (Reggie Hayes) prepare for their first dinner party, and Joan talks Lynn into opening her first bank account. R&B SENSATION MUSIQ SOULCHILD GUEST STARS — Derwin (Pooch Hall) gets Melanie (Tia Mowry) to agree to go out to dinner with him. Little does Melanie know he is planning a surprise marriage proposal with R&B singer Musiq Soulchild to serenade her. Later, things go wrong when Melanie sees Derwin kiss Drew Sidora (guest starring as herself) on the Music Video Awards. Believing Derwin has played her for a fool once again, an inebriated Melanie tries to sleep with Malik (Hosea Chanchez). Wendy Raquel Robinson, Coby Bell and Brittany Daniel also star. PREGNANCY REPORTED ON GOSSIP GIRL — Gossip Girl takes pleasure in reporting that Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) was spotted buying pregnancy tests. Of course, on the Upper East Side, the truth is often even juicier and more scandalous than the gossip, and this time is no exception. Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen, Ed Westwick, Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle also star. The episode was directed by Norman Buckley and written by Felicia D. RAJA GETS A JOB — Gary (Scott Patterson) is ashamed to tell the family he's been fired from his job, so he tries to get everyone to cut costs. Not wanting to be a burden on the family, Raja (Adhir Kalyan) gets a job at a convenience store, much to Gary's delight. Justin (Dan Byrd) and his pals Craig (Alex Pimm) and Dooley (Adam Rose) are thrilled when they go to visit Raja at work and discover that the convenience store parking lot is the cool kids' hang-out. Everything is fine until Raja upsets the natural balance by refusing to sell liquor to kids with fake I.D. cards. Amy Pietz and Lindsey Shaw also star. Linda Mendoza directed the episode written by Robia Rashid (#104).

SEASON PREMIERE FINDS THE CHARACTERS FOUR YEARS IN THE FUTURE — Four years after the season four finale, Tree Hill is a new place. Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) is a struggling writer who is about to embark on a new coaching career with Skills (Antwon Tanner). Peyton (Hilarie Burton) is at the beginning of a budding music venture, while Brooke's (Sophia Bush) fashion line is at a crossroads. Meanwhile, Nathan (James Lafferty) and Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) are young parents trying to find their way. Much has changed in four years, but in many ways, the journey is just beginning. Haley's (Bethany Joy Galeotti) decision to hire a nanny (guest star Torrey DeVitto, "Beautiful People") brings much-needed help into their home, while her first day of teaching turns out differently from what she expects. Jamie (guest star Jackson Brundage) sets his sights on a Soap Box derby race and enlists Skills (Antwon Tanner) to help him out. Meanwhile, Mouth's (Lee Norris) excitement about his new job is tempered by his demanding new boss. James Lafferty, Hilarie Burton and Sophia Bush also star.
