CHRIS JOINS THE SCHOOL NEWSPAPER — With no extracurricular activities to his name, Chris (Tyler James Williams) decides to join the writing staff of the school newspaper. However, when his writing skills fail to impress, Chris concocts a fictitious story about a serial killer loose on the streets of Bed-Stuy, which eventually finds its way to the local Brooklyn paper and causes quite a panic within the community. Terry Crews, Tichina Arnold, Tequan Richmond, Imani Hakim and Vincent Martella also star. The episode was directed by Debbie Allen and written by Rodney Barnes (#049).

JUSTIN COMPETES WITH RAJA — Justin (Dan Byrd) is looking forward to serving on the Homecoming Junior Float committee, where his idea for the previous year's float was a big hit. However, when Raja (Adhir Kalyan) innocently questions Justin's new idea for a float and the committee chooses Raja's idea over Justin's, a feud begins between the two friends. Meanwhile, Franny (Amy Pietz) secretly tries on Claire's (Lindsey Shaw) new, sexy Homecoming dress, which Gary (Scott Patterson) finds irresistible. When he learns that the revealing dress belongs to Claire, however, he forbids her to wear it out of the house. Dennie Gordon directed the episode written by Michael Glouberman (#103).

RETAIL THERAPY — Joan (Tracee Ellis Ross) is convinced that Maya (Golden Brooks) is not coping with the recent loss of her baby, and decides a little retail therapy will help her recover. While shopping Maya finds out it is really Joan who needs the therapy when she has a breakdown about Aaron (Richard T. Jones) being away in Iraq. Later, when Monica (Keesha Sharp) tells William (Reggie Hayes) that she is pregnant, his response is less than she desired. MOVING OUT AND MOVING IN — Tasha (Wendy Raquel Robinson) gives Melanie (Tia Mowry) one month to find a new place and move out of her house. When Derwin (Pooch Hall) calls Melanie's parents to tell them about their break-up, Melanie gets upset and admits that that she slept with Trey Wiggs and borrowed money from him to pay for medical school. Later, Jason (Coby Bell) has trouble performing in the bedroom, triggering Kelly (Brittany Daniel) to suspect that he is cheating, and Dionne (guest star Shanti Lowry) offers Melanie a place to live. ONE MOTHER IS SENT TO THE HOSPITAL — The contestants learn that there are six different kinds of smiles: swimsuit, evening gown, I've got a secret, natural, interview and closing smile. Tensions mount between the warring factions in the beauty pageant house. When each mother/daughter must "hold a smile" on a rotating pedestal for a full minute in the competition, rival housemates resort to differing tactics to break their smile, with shocking results (#105).

ONE MOTHER/DAUGHTER DUO SURPRISE THE JUDGES AT THE DE-SASHING CEREMONY — Mother/daughter pairs keep the high heels in the closet and put on the steel toes for a day of getting dirty - with Habitat for Humanity. The ladies must take their pageant charm into the public and deliver soap-box speeches on varied topics. Confrontation heats up between one mother and a daughter over each other's work ethic and in the elimination room, this week's eliminee's shock the judges when it comes time to de-sash (#106).

JOSH SCHWARTZ ("THE O.C.") BRINGS HIS LATEST TEEN DRAMA, "GOSSIP GIRL," TO THE CW — Filmed entirely in New York and based on the popular series of young-adult novels by Cecily von Ziegesar, "Gossip Girl" revolves around the privileged prep school teens on Manhattan's Upper East Side and the anonymous blogger, Gossip Girl, who provides them with the latest gossip about their exclusive circle. In the series opener, Gossip Girl is busy spreading the news that "it girl" Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) has returned to Manhattan after a mysterious and self-imposed exile to boarding school. Serena's best friend, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), has conflicted feelings about her friend's return since she has enjoyed being the Queen Bee during Serena's absence and might not be ready to relinquish her new position on the social ladder, not to mention the fact that she has always suspected there may be unspoken feelings between Serena and her longtime boyfriend, Nate (Chace Crawford). Penn Badgley, Taylor Momsen, Ed Westwick, Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle also star. Mark Piznarski directed the pilot written by executive producers Josh Schwartz & Stephanie Savage (#100).

LANA ABSORBS CLARK'S POWERS AND GOES AFTER LEX — Kryptonite and high voltage mix during a lightning storm, causing Lana (Kristin Kreuk) to absorb Clark's (Tom Welling) powers. Using her newfound super powers, she breaks into Lex's (Michael Rosenbaum) safe and steals incriminating evidence which she then delivers to Lois (Erica Durance) and Grant (Michael Cassidy), demanding they run a story exposing Lex's secrets. After Grant refuses to use stolen material, Lana decides to take care of Lex herself. Clark tries to stop Lana from killing Lex and a super battle ensues between the two. BELA RESURFACES TO CAUSE MORE TROUBLE FOR SAM AND DEAN — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate the mysterious demise of drowned victims who were nowhere near the water at the time of their death. The brothers learn each of the victims saw a ghost ship shortly before they died. Upon investigation, they cross paths with Bela (Lauren Cohan), who is being paid handsomely by one of the murder victim's family members to solve the case.
