John Diggle/Spartan on “Arrow”

David Ramsey stars as John Diggle/Spartan in The CW’s “Arrow.”

Well known for portraying Anton Briggs in the hit series “Dexter,” Ramsey can also be seen recurring as Mayor Carter Poole in “Blue Bloods.”  Prior to this, Ramsey starred opposite Jimmy Smits in the series “Outlaw.”

 On the feature side, Ramsey starred with Kevin Costner, Jennifer Garner, Denis Leary and Tom Welling in Ivan Reitman’s “Draft Day.”  He starred in the political satire “Nailed,” opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel, playing Representative Harshtone.  

 Ramsey played the lead opposite Kerry Washington in the Rodrigo Garcia-directed film “Mother and Child,” distributed by Sony Pictures Classics.  David’s character, Joseph, is trying to adopt a child with his wife Lucy, played by Washington.  The drama centers around their story, as well as that of a 50-year-old woman (Annette Bening) and the daughter she gave up for adoption 35 years ago (Naomi Watts).

 Additional film credits include a supporting role in “Pay it Forward,” opposite Kevin Spacey and Helen Hunt, “The Nutty Professor,” alongside Eddie Murphy, and “Con Air,” with Nicholas Cage and John Cusack.

 Ramsey’s incomparable versatility was showcased in his starring role as Muhammad Ali in the television biopic “Ali: An American Hero,” where he received rave reviews for his portrayal of the self-proclaimed “greatest fighter of all time.”  

  Ramsey is an avid practitioner of the martial art founded by Bruce Lee, Jeet Kune Do.
