Showrunner/Head Writer/Executive Producer of “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”

Aline Brosh McKenna is an award-winning writer/producer/director, and one of the highest-grossing female screenwriters of all time. McKenna is best known for the film adaptation of the popular novel ‘The Devil Wears Prada.” The screenplay is considered a modern classic, and features one of Meryl Streep’s signature roles as the imperious magazine editor, Miranda Priestly. In 2006, McKenna garnered Writers Guild, BAFTA and Scripter award nominations for the worldwide box office hit. 

  In 2014, McKenna added television to her resume when she co-created the critically acclaimed, Emmy Award-winning comedy series “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” on which she serves as head writer, showrunner and executive producer. In addition to writing and producing, McKenna directed the finale episodes of all three seasons of the show. She created the series with its star, Rachel Bloom.

  McKenna has film projects in development as a producer at Paramount Players with writers Rachel Specter & Audrey Wauchope and is developing multiple pilots with CBS Studios where she has an overall deal, including “Big Men,” which she co-created with Rene Gube, and “Arranged,” which she co-created with Sono Patel, and also directed the pilot. 

  McKenna’s other feature film credits include the worldwide hit and perennial wedding favorite “27 Dresses,” starring Katherine Heigl; “Morning Glory,” starring Rachel McAdams and Harrison Ford; the Cameron Crowe-directed, Matt Damon-starrer, “We Bought a Zoo;” and her adaptation of the musical “Annie.”

  McKenna’s graphic novel Jane, a contemporary version of the Jane Eyre story illustrated by Eisner Award-winning artist Ramon Perez, recently received two prestigious Eisner Award nominations, including Best Publication for Teens.
