Harvey Dent in “Gotham Knights”

Misha Collins stars as Harvey Dent, Gotham’s District Attorney, in The CW’s new series “Gotham Knights.”

Collins is an actor, activist, artist and a New York Times bestselling author dedicated to inspiring cultural and civic engagement through works that gamify activism. Collins connects with his over 11 million social media followers to help amplify social issues and motivate positive change across the globe. He is best known for his role as the angel Castiel in “Supernatural,” the longest-running sci-fi series in U.S. history.

In 2021, Collins released his New York Times Bestselling poetry book “Some Things I Still Can’t Tell You.” The audiobook edition was released in the Fall of 2022. One hundred percent of the author proceeds from his previous book, “The Adventurous Eaters Club,” were donated to urban gardening and food programs, which raised thousands to fight childhood hunger.

Collins’ podcast, “Bridgewater,” was the #1 fiction podcast on Apple Podcasts in 2022. “Bridgewater” will release its second season in January 2023.

As a founder of the 100% volunteer-run, non-profit Random Acts, Collins has inspired supporters to collaboratively engage in acts of grassroots social good. Together with the charity’s supporters, Collins and Random Acts have built a center for orphaned children in Haiti and a high school in Nicaragua for students shut out of the public school system (one of the first graduates of the school will soon become a doctor). Random Acts has also funded and facilitated tens of thousands of grassroots acts of kindness to help individuals and communities worldwide.  Random Acts is also currently helping keep Dancescape, a South African school for at-risk young people, in operation. The school has lifted students out of poverty, and many have gone on to dance at Juilliard or the American Ballet Theater.

Collins is also the founder of GISH, a Guinness World Record winning annual global scavenger hunt that gamifies creativity and goodwill. GISH and Random Acts’ efforts included evacuating marginalized Ukranians and providing them with critically needed medical equipment and shelter, helping minesweepers clear unexploded ordnance from rural farms in Laos, supporting a free hospital for children injured by weapons of war in Afghanistan, and protecting over 45,000 square acres of endangered wilderness.

Collins is co-founder of “The Art Department,” an artists’ collaborative, which creates large-scale public art installations in unexpected places. The Art Department has been heralded as the best art group working in Southern California by Time Out LA, LA Weekly, The Los Angeles Times and ABC National News.

As an activist, Collins has lent his voice and platform to key political races, including President Joe Biden, Amy Klobuchar, Stacey Abrams, Sen. Raphael Warnock, Sen. Cory Booker and many other notable figures in the US political landscape.

Collins received a BA in Social Theory from the University of Chicago, where he graduated with honors. Collins has also served as an intern at the White House during the Clinton administration, and worked at National Public Radio headquarters in Washington, DC. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, woodworking, and making fun of corrupt politicians.
