JAMES D’ARCY

Ludovico Sforza in “Leonardo”

James D’Arcy stars as Ludovico Sforza in The CW’s new series “Leonardo.” The Regent of Milan, Ludovico Sforza is a powerful, charming and insightful man. His wealth and position give him many enemies, but he is a patron of the arts and presents himself as a friend to Leonardo da Vinci. He is deeply proud and not used to being refused, but he can be surprisingly gentle. Whilst he is utterly fascinating, he is also deeply dangerous. He has a slick tongue and is able to manipulate others convincingly. He seeks power and legacy at any cost.

D’Arcy was born and raised in London, England. He trained and began his acting career in a three-year program at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, which he finished in July 1995. While completing his studies, he participated in multiple stage productions including “Wild Honey,” “As You Like It” and “Sherlock Holmes.”

From there, D’Arcy landed his first television role as a student in “Silent Witness.” He also appeared in “Daziel and Pascoe,” “The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling,” “Sunburn,” “Ruth Rendell Mysteries,” “Secret Diary of a Call Girl,” “The Closer” and “Those Who Kill.”

In 2015, he began his role as Edwin Jarvis, butler to Howard and Tony Stark, on the Marvel series “Agent Carter” and he reprised this role in the 2019 film “Avengers: Endgame.” D’Arcy has since appeared in “Homeland” as Thomas Anson, “The Hot Zone” as Travis Rhodes and “Red Election” as Adam Cornwell.
