Tortuguero National Park in Costa Rica where he
explores this unique and remarkably rich protected
ecosystem where freshwater meets the sea. Jeff
ventures through its waterways to meet some of the
amazing animals that live there and joins biologist
Pablo “Chespi” Elizondo as he conducts a critically
important study of local and migratory birds in the
area. Tortuguero is Spanish for “the place of turtles”
so as part of his visit, Jeff joins a dedicated team

conservationists from the Sea Turtle Conservancy
as they patrol the protected beaches at night looking
for nesting leatherback turtles as part of their ongoing
work to protect this incredible and ancient
endangered species.

Host Jeff Corwin takes us on an exploration of the
fascinating world of venomous animals living in the greatly
diverse and beautiful country of Costa Rica. Jeff will join
Florida International University student Michelle
Thompson as they conduct a transect through the rain
forest in Costa Rica and where Jeff comes across an
extremely venomous snake he had an almost deadly
encounter with in the past, the coral snake. Jeff will then
visit a world-renowned venom lab, the Instituto Clodomiro
Picado in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Florida International University working in the Coastal

partners as they strive to protect the amazing leatherback turtle and
ensure the safety of the next generations. To end our adventure, Jeff
travels to the island of Tasmania with Nate Farnau, also from
Georgia Aquarium, as they join a team of conservationists fighting to
protect a diversity of venomous snakes critical to this habitat,
