DANIEL GILLIES

Jake Campbell in “Sight Unseen”

Daniel Gillies stars as Jake Campbell, the longtime homicide partner of detective Tess Avery (Dolly Lewis), in The CW’s new series “Sight Unseen.”

Gillies will next be seen in Season two of the award-winning Australian drama “The Newsreader,” opposite Anna Torv and Sam Reid (the series won the Australian equivalent of the Emmy for “Best Drama”). He was last seen as the lead in the independent feature film “Coming Home in the Dark,” which premiered to rave reviews at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival and was named one of the best films of 2021 by the New York Times. The film, directed by James Ashcroft, is an intense psychological thriller about a man who is forced to confront a brutal act from his past when a pair of ruthless drifters takes him and his family on a nightmare road-trip.

Other recent credits include the popular series “The Vampire Diaries” and the Australian feature film, “Occupation: Rainfall,” alongside Jason Isaacs and Ken Jeong.

The Canadian-born, New Zealand-raised actor became a fan-favorite in his role as Original Vampire, ‘Elijah,’ on the massively successful series, “The Vampire Diaries.” The popularity of the show garnered the network a spin-off series entitled “The Originals.” Gillies also recurred on the show “Seal Team.” Before that, he starred as the lead on “Saving Hope,” opposite Erica Durance. Gillies wrote, directed and produced the feature film “Broken Kingdom,” as well as the documentary “Kingdom Come,” about the herculean task of making the independent feature film.

Some of Gillies’ other credits include Kristen Dunst’s love interest in “Spider-man 2,” the lead role in “Sensation of Sight,” opposite David Strathairn, and as Robert Durst in “The Lost Wife of Robert Durst.”

A veteran of the theater, Gillies has participated in over twenty plays professionally including “Julius Caesar,” “Three Sisters,” “Long Day’s Journey into Night” and “The Judas Kiss.”

Gillies lives in Los Angeles with a veritable zoo of animals and his children.
