When we last saw them, Shade and Angie had solved the show’s biggest mystery: will they or won’t they? But as our private eyes shared that long-awaited kiss, we were left with a new burning question: What happens next?!

We pick up with Shade and Angie five years later. They got married, shut down their P.I. firm, and moved west to Victoria, BC. Goodbye, Toronto smog alerts. Hello breezy weather, ocean views, and Blundstones. Lots of Blundstones. Shade and Angie have also welcomed a new member on board: an adorable baby boy named Declan. That’s right – our duo put away their P.I. licenses to become full-time parents. Sure, the days of stakeouts and tailing suspects are over. But married life isn’t just about diaper changes and connecting sleep cycles. Shade’s hockey memoir hit the shelves to rave reviews. And Angie still puts her P.I. skills to use – during story time. (Note: if you’re about to accuse someone’s business partner of embezzling, at least let them get through “Baby Beluga.”)

And there’s one more surprise even our former sleuths didn’t see coming: Will, Angie’s long-lost half-brother. He and Angie connected courtesy of an ancestry kit gifted by her uncle. Will may be only half-family, but he is fully present. Need someone to watch Declan during date night? Or align your fascia during a rolfing session? For Angie, Will is like the wedding gift that keeps on giving. For Shade, wedding gifts don’t enter without knocking or re-sell your memoirs as a side hustle.

New home, new baby, new Will. Shade and Angie have found their groove. That is, until date night ends with a woman standing over her dead boyfriend, bloody knife in hand. Angie’s gut says she’s innocent. Maybe they should take on one last case – think of it as a push present. Shade is skeptical. A push present is a bracelet from Tiffany’s, not a homicide investigation. And didn’t they move out here to leave P.I.-ing and danger behind? But once Shade gives in (no point denying his wife has the best instincts in the business), our detectives are back in action. Going undercover, chasing leads, catching a killer – old habits die hard. Time for our private eyes to go back into business.

But getting back in the game isn’t easy. Lack of sleep makes it hard to keep track of your keys, much less means, motive, and, uh… whatever the third thing is. Not to mention, Shade and Angie are without their Toronto network. Don has passed away, Jules is in the UK, studying at Cambridge, and their only police “contact” is Detective Violet Xiao, Victoria’s no-nonsense, formidable, and – let’s just say it – intimidating head of Major Crimes. Xiao is no fan of Shade and Angie poking their noses into her jurisdiction. She’d sooner cuff our P.I.s than scan a licence plate for them.

Luckily, Shade and Angie have some allies. There’s Raine Atebe, a computer science major with tier-A hacking chops and a can-do attitude for almost everything – except babysitting. For that, there’s Will. He moves into the guest house as Declan’s full-time nanny, or should we say, “manny.” Shade grits his teeth whenever Will changes diapers on his custom-built pool table – but even he can’t deny Will’s big heart and surprisingly useful connections that help our crime-solving duo crack their cases.

With their trademark banter and hilarious competitive streak, our private eyes take on heart-pounding cases with a distinctly coastal flair: A missing student lost in the expansive BC wilderness; a road trip to Tofino to extract a surfer’s murder confession; a stolen baseball card at a House and Garden tour; a disoriented freediver attacked… by a mermaid?!

Life on the West Coast is no stroll through Beacon Hill Park.

Victoria, watch out. Private Eyes – they’re watching you.
